What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural brain state of relaxed focus. Chances are, you’re already familiar with it. It’s the state of mind most people slip into when watching a favorite TV show, scrolling through social media, or driving from point A to point B without ‘consciously’ remembering the route because it’s become 'second nature.’ In hypnosis, we work through that brain state of trance-like, relaxed focus to access the subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind holds memory of all your lived experiences including all of the associated perceptions, sensations, emotions, memories, thoughts, and behaviors that were imprinted during important life events. Oftentimes, we desire change and make efforts toward it, but old programming kicks up resistance. The old programming developed to keep us safe, and despite having grown beyond those imprints, the subconscious mind hasn’t gotten the memo.
Modern neuroscience has established that while in trance, the brain increases its levels of plasticity. Hypnotherapy allows us to ignore distractions and communicate directly with the parts of our mind to release the outdated programming at the subconscious level. If you can listen to guided relaxation and follow verbal cues, imagery, and repetition — you can make changes to improve your health through hypnosis!
What happens during a session?
A session takes place in three distinct parts and is tailored for each client.
Intake — We determine your present issue, contributing life experiences, and personal history (30-45 minutes).
Hypnosis - We facilitate hypnosis which can include suggestibility exercises, guided relaxation, and the hypnotic session (45 minutes to 1 hour).
Post-Session De-brief - We cover techniques of self-hypnosis and ways you can strengthen the hypnotic changes initiated with take-home exercises.
It’s important to note that even in the deepest trance states, clients remain completely in control of their will and volition. We affirm - all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Though we provide suggestions tailored to your goals, you are in complete control and will only act in your self’s highest healing interest.
Hypnosis is a safe and effective complementary therapy to support inner change. It’s best viewed as a process. While significant change can occur in one session, more complex or nuanced issues may benefit from multiple sessions to address different components of the issue.
Alyssa Schimmel is a National Guild of Hypnotists board-certified consulting hypnotist since 2021. Since then, she has helped her clients address a range of issues through hypnosis including test anxiety, picky eating, self-esteem, weight management, and smoking cessation.

Initial Session (1.5 hours) - $150
Follow-Up Session (1 hour) - $125
Tune-Up (30-34 minutes minutes) - $95
Booking Policies
24-Hour Cancellation Policy + No-show Policy
Your scheduled session is reserved for you. Payment is due at time at scheduling. If you need to change your appointment, please give 24 hours notice if you have to cancel or reschedule. If you cancel with less than 24 hours you will forfeit cost of the session which you submitted as your deposit.
Payment Options and Credit Card Surcharges
Payment for session can happen via cash, Venmo, or PayPal debit along with all major credit cards. For your convenience and to recover fees credit card companies impose, a 3.5% surcharge is added to your services for credit cards on file and a 3% for credit cards swiped.
